The Golf and Prep Haul

A run of premium golf clothing from Peter Millar and Polo Golf, most of it barely worn. Here is what came home and why it is worth a look.

Finds from The Golf and Prep Haul

Golf clothing turns up at Atlanta estate sales more often than almost anything else, and the quality is usually high. People who play regularly tend to buy premium brands and look after them, so a golfer’s closet can hold dozens of shirts in near-new condition.

This haul was one of those. Most of it is Peter Millar, a label whose polos and quarter-zips typically retail for around $100 or more new. Everything here is listed for a fraction of that.

What came home

  • Peter Millar polos. Six shirts in sizes L through XXL, including a purple polo with a tiny martini glass print, a teal geometric dot, and several stripes in pink, navy, green, and fuchsia.
  • Peter Millar quarter-zips. One grey and one navy, both easy layers for fall mornings on the course or at the office.
  • Polo Golf by Ralph Lauren. Red, dark green, and navy polos with the embroidered pony.
  • A Peter Millar striped pocket tee for warmer days.

Why we buy golf clothing

Premium golf shirts are built from good cotton and performance fabrics that hold their shape and color after years of washing. They also fit a wide range of people, from golfers to anyone who wants a clean, classic polo for work. Buying them secondhand keeps well-made clothing in use and saves you most of the retail price.

Fit notes

Golf polos from the 2000s tend to run generous through the chest. Check the pit-to-pit measurement in each Depop listing against a shirt you already own. Our sizing guide walks through how.
